Matthias Aron Megyeri is showing new and recent work in Don't Panic at The Architecture Foundation, with a site specific installation of alarm boxes and remodelled Victorian railings. The exhibition brings together architects, artists and designers to present alternative visions for the future that concentrate on the fragility of human behaviour.

Chieko Yoshiee, Editor of Casa Brutus, selected Matthias as one of '100 of the world's most interesting designers' that are featured in &fork (Phaidon, 2007).

Matthias entertained Tessa Jowell, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, with a presentation of his work at NESTA’s HQ. (Sadly, the Prime Minister couldn't make it.)


December 2006

Matthias was invited to give talks about his work on a number of occasions last year. Highlights included a slot at Pecha Kucha at the ICA, speaking to Sauter's class at the UDK, Berlin and a workshop at DAAD, London, in November.

Professor Alison Clarke has written the article 'Sweet Dreams Security™: Aesthetics for the Paranoid Home’ for Home Cultures (Issue Two, July 2006), an ‘interdisciplinary journal dedicated to the critical understanding of the domestic sphere’. Matthias will be giving a workshop at MoMA in New York on designing security products to 15 students from New York's leading Design schools, who were able to apply to take part.

Opening of 'Safe: Design Takes On Risk' exhibition at MoMA in New York. The exhibition runs until beginning of next year and as part of it our 'Mr Smish & Madame Buttly' Razor Wire is featured on the exhibition catalogue cover.

Opening of 'Tokyo Hipsters Club' (THC)— a building with our 'R. Bunnit, Peter Pin and Didoo' railings in front of the entrance. THC is Tom Dixon's architectural debut, so it is great news that he chose to accessorize it with products from the 'Sweet Dreams SecurityTM' range.
